The Louvre Pyramid is a
landmark in Paris, as well as one of the most spectacular and famous
architectures in the world. It is one of The Grands Projects commencing by French
President François Mitterrand in 1983, and designed by the architect Ieoh Ming
Pei. The pyramid structure was built completely by 603 rhombus-shaped and 70
triangular glass segments, which engineered by Nicolet Chartrand Knoll Ltd. of
Montreal and Rice Francis Ritchie of. Its square base has sides of 35 meters
and the height is 21.6 meters. It was created as the main entrance to the
Louvre Museum because of the old one could no longer handle immense visitors
every day. The Pyramid is always a construction that I fully appreciated since
it not only expands and modernises The Louvre,
it is also a symbol of environmental friendly architecture.
